Getting to Nottingham

Flying Direct

Nottingham has its own airport – East Midlands Airport (EMA).  It is served by both international and internal flights.  They have a list of the cities that fly there here.

Plane/Train Combo

If you cannot fly directly into EMA, then you can get to Nottingham by flying to London, Birmingham or Manchester and taking the train from there to Nottingham.

Approximate train times to Nottingham station:

  • London Heathrow – 3 hours 15 mins
  • Birmingham International – 1 hour 45 mins
  • Manchester – 2 hours 30 mins

You can book UK rail tickets using the Trainline website.  These tickets can be collected from machines in the station or they can be posted to you (even internationally).

Driving

You can drive to either NTU or directly to the venue.  There are car rental locations at all UK airports and next to most UK major rail stations.

You can use google maps to suggest driving directions to NTU:

Note, we are on the NTU Clifton Campus, not in the city centre site.

Similarly, you can also get direction directly to the meeting venue:

Accommodation in Nottingham

If you need or want to spend the night in Nottingham before or after the event then there are lots of good hotels – at least in the city centre.  Trip Advisor provides a useful starting point here.

There is a Jury’s Inn next to the station – ranked 9th in Nottingham by Trip Advisor.

The Premier Inn (Nottingham City Centre) is very centrally located- and is ranked 3rd in Nottingham by Trip Advisor.

Getting to the Meeting

Once you have got to Nottingham, you need to get the the meeting.  Joining instructions for the meeting itself are on the Symposium Planner page.  Here you find out how to meet at NTU on the Monday morning or when to arrive at the venue if you are traveling yourself.
